⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Childhood best friends to lovers to a second chance romance.
This book reminded me so much of Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. Young girl’s family buys a cabin/lake house next to a cute boy, they start out friends, spending every day possible together and trying to keep in touch when their apart, and then slowly falling in love. Something happens that breaks them apart for years and then they find each other and fall back in love and live happily ever after!
As these books were very similar in the plot I loved this book so much more. I loved that the chapters were alternating between the past and current time, same as Every Summer After. Macy and Elliot share a love for books and I really wish I’d had that closet when I was a child! I love how slow they took their relationship, it made it that much better when they finally made it official, but then much harder when it ended. The ending explains so much as to why Macy can never get close to anyone and keeps everyone at arm’s length.
This book made me laugh, blush, awe and cry. It was a quick, easy read that I would definitely recommend for romance lovers!
